Professor Rei Ogawa, MD, PhD

Professor Rei Ogawa graduated in medicine from Nippon Medical School, Tokyo, Japan in 1999. He did his residency in general and plastic surgery at Nippon Medical School, Graduate school of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan from 2001-2004. In 2005 he was appointed Research fellow in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the same University and from 2006 Assistant Professor in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is currently doing a two year fellowship in the division of Plastic Surgery, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He is a member of the Editorial Board and Reviewer for “Current Stem Cell Research and Therapy”, “Scar Management”, and “Journal of Clinical Rehabilitative Tissue Engineering Research”. He has been the recipient of several awards including Award of Japanese Society of Plastic Surgery in 2004 , the Award of Alumni Society of Nippon Medical School in 2005, 2006 and 2007. He has received research grants for the study of “Construction of prefabricated flap containing reconstructed tissue using stem cells”, “Development of green-adipose tissue mice” and “Bone-marrow regeneration using adult stem cells harvested from adipose tissue”. Professor Ogawa has contributed with chapters 3 textbooks in English and 4 in Japanese and has published 50 original papers in peer reviewed journals in English and over 50 in Japanese. He has delivered over 250 papers in national and international congresses and educational meetings.
