Dr Steven Moran is Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery, Mayo Medical School, Consultant, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Consultant, Hand and Microvascular Surgery, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Mayo Clinic Rochester, Staff Surgeon, Shriners Hospital for Sick Children, St Paul, MN, Co-Director Mayo Clinic Microvascular Skills Lab.
He studied Medicine at University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Rochester, NY and did his general surgical residency at University of Rochester Medical Center in which he completed his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He did a Hand and Microvascular Surgery at Mayo Clinic with Professor Allen T. Bishop and he is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. He is Associate Editor of Year Book of Hand Surgery, and Journal of Hand Surgery and reviewer for another 7 Journals. Dr. Moran is a member of the American Association of Hand Surgery, the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, the American Society of Surgery of the Hand, the International Wrist Investigators Workshop, and the Plastic Surgery Research Council. Dr. Moran has a vast teaching experience which includes undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and mentorship to many young plastic and orthopedic surgeons. His institutional administrative responsibilities include membership to the Surgical Research Committee at Mayo Clinic, Cast Room Practice Redesign Workgroup, Clinical Research Committee Subgroup, Co-director Microvascular training center, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, CTSA Academic Affairs Committee. Dr. Moran has delivered more than 60 lectures and presentations in national and international meetings, and 60 presentations as an invited speaker. His research interests include congenital hand problems, microsurgery, and arthritis and his clinical and experimental research has resulted into the publication of 58 peer reviewed articles and 21 published abstracts. Dr. Moran has also contributed chapters in 6 books.
