Dr. Michael Arthur Christopher Kane MD

Dr. Kane was accepted into the combined five year cooperative program in medical education before actually graduating from High School.  He graduated from Jefferson Medical College and began his career in surgery at the age of twenty.  He was a member of the Hobart Hare Honor Society in medical school.

Dr. Kane then completed a general surgery residency at New York Medical College.  This residency was based at Lincoln Hospital which was at the epicenter of the urban violence which plagued the South Bronx in the eighties.  While this violence was tragic for the residents of that area, it afforded Dr. Kane a tremendous amount of surgical experience that he would not have received anywhere else.

Dr. Kane’s plastic surgical training consisted of a residency at Wright State University and the fellowship at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital.  During this fellowship (an additional, not required full year of training), Dr. Kane studied under several of the nation’s pre-eminent cosmetic plastic surgeons and also operated on his own patients.  It would have taken several years of private practice to accumulate the experience that Dr. Kane already had when he began his practice in 1992.

Board Certifications: American Board of Surgery, American Board of Plastic Surgery

Publications, Lectures, and Research

Dr. Kane has published and presented numerous papers throughout his career.  His work has been published in the scientific journals Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  However, he is probably best known for his work with Botulinum Toxin A - Botox.  While still a fellow at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, he pioneered the use of Botox for cosmetic purposes.  Dr. Kane has taught thousands of physicians how to properly inject Botox with both lectures and live demonstrations.  Special topics of expertise which he has lectured on regarding Botox include: rejuvenation of the neck (eliminating the “cords” often seen below the chin, proper injection of the crow’s feet area, use of Botox to actually elevate and shape the eyebrows, smoothing of smile and laugh lines, diminishing wrinkles around the chin and below the corners of the mouth, maximizing safety with each injection, and due to his experience, the results of long term use of Botox on muscle atrophy.

Dr. Kane’s practice is limited to cosmetic plastic surgery.
