Dr Mark Gorney MD, FACS

 

 Dr. Gorney graduated in medicine from the University of Chicago, School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois and did his general and plastic surgery residency in Blodgett Memorial Hospital University of Michigan. He also did a plastic surgery fellowship at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana. He then moved to Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, San Francisco and remained as Chairman in Plastic Surgery Residency until 1987. From 1982-1993 he was Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, Department of Plastic Surgery, San Francisco, California. He also joined Stanford University Department of Plastic Surgery, Palo Alto, California as Clinical Professor and from 1993 he is Professor Emeritus in the same University.

Dr. Gorney is an Ad hoc member of EQUAM (European Quality Assurance Commission for Medical Devices), a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Inc. (Currently named American Society of Plastic Surgeons), American Association of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Fellow American College of Surgeon, and Life Member of the California Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He has been Chairman on the Board of Trustees at the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He is a member of the Board of Governors and Chairman of the Risk Management Committee of The Doctors' Company Napa, California. He has been a Senior Examiner, a Member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has been President of the International Confederation of Plastic and Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and the California Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He has served on the Children's Medical Relief International in Saigon, Vietnam from 1968-1971 and has been Chief of Surgery and Medical Director of the Project Hope, Peru.

Dr. Gorney has received numerous awards including the First Special Achievement Award in Plastic Surgery of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Special Recognition Award of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the Special Achievement Award of the Educational Foundation of the American Society of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Gorney has contributed with 21 book chapters, several scientific papers, editorials in peer reviewed national and international journals and has participated in the scientific programs of numerous congresses in USA and abroad.
